Why I am involved with youth group:
Over the years many of those around me as well as myself have noticed I have a knack for kids. Some suggest that it may be a calling, but who can know for sure with so much of my life ahead of me? I just feel that I belong at the youth group; whether to help encourage teens or leaders, bring in an enjoyable atmosphere, or just play my guitar to help with the worship team songs. I definitely look forward to participating in many events, as I hope you teens do, too!

Im an overall likable and friendly guy, so dont be shy to approach me or chat with me, Im just about always open minded and open hearted.

Testimony:
I'm a born and raised Christian who has lived in Maine all my life. The first church I attended was Saco Bible Baptist up until I was 6 or 7, then our family moved to Waterboro and we began attending Hollis Center Baptist, and continue to today.

Im going to be 22 this year (Mar 21, 2008) and it will have been 14 years since I accepted Christ into my life. I learned about Jesus through Sunday school at HCBC and knew that I wanted to receive Gods gift of eternal life. I asked my father one night about accepting Jesus into my heart, and prayed then and there.

I've attended Hollis Center Baptist since then and grown up in our wonderful church family. Sometime in the summer last year I tried out playing guitar for the youth at Bible Baptist, however it fell through, so I began playing at HCBC in Sunday morning services, and have joined in playing guitar at our youth group Thursday nights.

During my years in the Hollis Center youth group (some of the best years I can recollect) I enjoyed participating in short term summer missions with 'The Attic' Youth Group. When I first decided to go, I thought it would just be a good experience and maybe gimme some 'brownie points'... I quickly learned that these week-long periods were HUGE turning points in my life. Each year I yearned to go on a trip again to see what I could learn and see what God could do through me. I went on the first three trips to Raleigh NC (2002-2003-2004) and was humbled and broken time and again witnessing the inner-city children living in poverty and comparing my attitude and living conditions to theirs. It opened my eyes to how materialism can really get a hold on you, and showed me what really counts; Gods love. Those children often didnt have loving parents at home, or encouraging friends and elders, but whenever you talked to them and played with them you saw their beaming smiles of pure happiness. Thats because they felt the love; love from God through us.

Those years showed me first hand that people can and should see Jesus within me. I should be an example of His life and love to anyone I come into contact with (though I am still really working on that) and strive to live like He did and glorify God in all that I do. (Just like being a Telescope)
